What is in the PodChatLive podcast?

PodChatLive is a monthly livestream for continuing learning of Podiatrists. PodChatLive is live on Facebook and then is later placed on YouTube. Each show has a different person or group of guests to talk about a different issue each episode. Requests are answered live by the hosts and friends throughout the show on Facebook. Additionally there is a PodCast audio version of every episode offered on iTunes and Spotify and also the other common podcast sources. The hosts have grown a great following which is growing. PodChatLive is viewed as one of the ways whereby podiatrists will get free ongoing education hours.

In the initial show which began everything, it was totally improvised and a spur of the moment thing to do. One of the creators, Craig Payne from Melbourne found himself in England for 2 days whilst on the way home from conferences in Spain and Portugal without much to do. While there he called in at Ian Griffith’s home and while talking after a meal they realised none of them had ever recorded a Facebook Live so they decided to try it and see what happens. They did a livestream conversation from Ian’s house. Inspite of the really “amateur” and absolutely “unrehearsed” character of the live stream, it was met with surprisingly favourable comments and they got some deep contemplating questions through the broadcast live. So that they started questioning if there is some mileage in performing something like this more regularly. And thus a regular livestream was born to finally be known as, PodChatLive. In this first episode, Craig talks about and reveals which was the research study that evolved his thinking probably the most, and they talk about junk science, pseudoscience, research translation. Some other topics come up were concerns on what is wrong with cuboid syndrome – we know it whenever we view it, however its difficult to define. Additionally, they talked about Craig’s preferred airport terminal to have breakfast in.
