Healthia Limited is a publicly traded business aiming to become among Australia’s major allied health businesses that offers podiatry, physiotherapy and related services. They are listed on the Australian Stock Exchange with the opening of a $26.8 million Initial Public Offer (IPO). Healthia is the holding company which owns and runs over 70 MyFootDr podiatry offices throughout Australia. Additionally, they operate the foot orthotics lab, iOrthotics and have a 50 per cent stake of DBS Medical that supplies healthcare products. The Initial public offering proceeds were put to use to fund the purchase of additional podiatry centers and some physiotherapy and hand therapy clinics. They think that Australia’s very fragmented allied health market provides a commercial potential for them to supply bundled solutions to satisfy the need for physiotherapy and podiatry providers since the population becomes older. Healthia hope to do that by helping clinicians lessen administrative worries of their practices. The vertically bundled enterprises including iOrthotics and DBS Medical is going to be used to drive buying synergies, and also to optimise the procedures of existing clinics, producing cost benefits from the increased size and enhance practice operations.
One of the pioneers of MyFootDr, Greg Dower, was a guest on PodChatLive, the podiatry livestream show. He has become the Chief Business Development Officer at MyFootDr. Greg is the podiatrist for the Australian cricket team and is the lead in the Elvis Presley tribute band called the Blue Cats. This connection with Elvis has gained Greg lots of interest in the business press regarding the the IPO of Healthia. In the PodChatLive show, Greg talked to the hosts about his journey from being a sole practitioner to co-owning a group of over 50 podiatry businesses (which used over 100 podiatrists) prior to the IPO and further growth. Greg talked about the considerable mentoring system they've got for new graduates, and the work smarter and harder philosophy. At the end of the chat greg briefly showed us round his Graceland influenced lounge.
